ABOUT
Rachel Sterrenberg is originally from Madison, Georgia. Rachel made her University of Kentucky Opera Theatre debut in October of 2009 as Dana Kelso in the world premier opera River of Time . Other credits include the First Lady in The Magic Flute and Musetta in La Boheme with UKOT. Not only has she appeared on the opera stage, but has been involved in concert solo work. Sterrenberg was the soprano soloist with the University of Kentucky Chorale's performance of segments of Mozart's Vesperae Solemnes de Confessore during their tour throughout Paris, France, and was a featured soloist in the University of Kentucky's annual Christmas Collage concert in 2010.
Ms. Sterrenberg is a 2011 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Kentucky district winner, and will be competing in February 2012 at the regional level. She the first place beneficiary of the 2008 Alltech Undergraduate Opera Scholarship, and the 2009 winner of the Peterson Vocal Competition. Other recent awards include the Strauss Award in the Orpheus National Vocal Competition, and a selected semi-finalist in the
Charles A. Lynam Competition.
Rachel made her Chautauqua Music Fesival debut as Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi and Mary Warren in Ward's The Crucible in the 2011 summer season. In October , she was seen as the title role in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette with the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre.
Ms. Sterrenberg is a student of Dr. Everett McCorvey at the University of Kentucky.
